Lance Mackey won the 1,100-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race one more time. Mackey crossed the finish line in Nome, Alaska, yesterday afternoon to become the only musher in the 38-year history of the Iditarod to win four consecutive races.

It’s a slow afternoon on the streets of Fairview for Sergeant Denny Allen, supervisor of the Anchorage Police Department’s Community Action Policing team. The sun is bright and it’s rather warm for a February afternoon, but the inebriates and drug dealers who Allen spends his time rounding up, tracking, and generally making life uncomfortable for just aren’t out in force yet.

Two men were killed in a shooting in South Anchorage early Friday morning, and a woman was wounded, according to the Anchorage Police Department. The shooting took place in a compact Nissan car in the area of Independence Drive and Congress Circle near the Abbott Loop Fred Meyer, police said.
